What is Who’s This?! Adventures of Fox?

Who's This?! is the third book in the Adventures of Fox children's picture book series! The protagonist is a little dog named Fox (featured in each story) and it is about how she learns to acclimate to the arrival of a new, younger brother.

What inspired this story about Fox meeting her new brother?

In real life, my husband and I have a dog named Foxy and had adopted another dog (Mick) about a year and a half ago. Observing how they interacted and how Foxy adjusted to him made me realize that many families must also experience the same thing, which inspired me to write the story. I thought it would be nice for young kids to read a book that shows the main character feeling like a second fiddle to her new sibling. The reassurance Fox receives from her friends and new brother) is a nice opportunity for parents and caregivers to express the same to the child who is reading the story with them.

How do you choose the animals featured in your books?

I've always loved nature and sitting outdoors while working. Living in Michigan, there is so much wildlife that visits us daily in our yard that I often study their behavior and use them as models! Fox and Mick are our actual dogs, so I wasn't too creative when choosing them (or their names)!

What prompted you to include a Glossary section and a Tea Party Section?

I realized through visiting schools and partaking in story times that rhyming stories are great ways to learn new words! Often, when a story is told in rhyme, less common vocabulary is used, so I thought that a glossary would be really fun for the kids and a nice addition for educators. The Tea Party section was inspired by the scene where the Bunny family invites Fox into their home for carrot cake. It made me think of when I was little and loved when authors would include extras at the end of a book, with fun activities or facts relevant to the story.

How did MyBookPrinter help your vision become a reality?

I've been using My Book Printer since the beginning of The Adventures of Fox series and have been so pleased with the quality and service provided. Several times during book events people pick up one of my books and comment about what excellent quality the pages and printing are! I truly feel that all of the employees at My Book Printer care as much about my books as I do, which is so comforting. Fun fact: I worked on Who's This?! right up until the day before it was due to My Book Printer, and because of this, I didn't have time to look at a final print proof. I have so much confidence in the team that I decided to wing it and have them take complete care of the production. Lo-and-behold, it turned out beautiful! They really are the best.
